Michael Miller Featured at Next-Gen Freight Rail

Michael Miller, CEO of Genesee & Wyoming (G&W), is among the featured speakers at the Railway Age Next-Gen Freight Rail 2024 Conference. Miller will discuss why “people matter most,” including what G&W is doing in terms of attracting and retaining new talent, as well as adjustments in recruitment and hiring practices.

Miller will take to the stage on March 12, 2024, at the Union League Club of Chicago, along with other industry leaders like Tracy Robinson, President and CEO of CN and Railway Age’s 2024 Railroader of the Year; CN Vice President of Engineering Brett Laing, Railway Track & Structures’ 2023 Engineer of the Year; Union Pacific (UP) President Beth Whited; UP CEO Jim Vena; and Norfolk Southern (NS) AVP Enterprise Data & Analytics Mabby Amouie. They will engage in informal “fireside chat” style conversations with Railway Age and Railway Track & Structures editors.

Meet Michael Miller

Miller currently serves as CEO of G&W’s North American operations, responsible for strategy, capital deployment, operations support and corporate culture. Prior to his current role, he served as President of G&W North America, overseeing both commercial and operating functions, and COO of North America, responsible for all commercial functions. Before G&W, Miller managed NS’s Modalgistics supply chain organization, was Vice President of Strategic Development for Derivion Corp, and held numerous logistics-related positions with Georgia-Pacific and Roadway Express.

Miller graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a master’s degree in Business Management. His professional training includes supply chain certifications from Georgia Tech and the University of Tennessee, as well as executive development programs from The Darden Business School at the University of Virginia.

Miller has served as a member of the Council for Supply Chain Management Professionals, an Advisory Board member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce’s Supply Chain Leadership Council, and a Steering Committee member of the Freight Advisory Task Force. In 2007, Miller was awarded the Atlanta Logistics Professional of Year by the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
