Columbus, Ohio-based Carthcart Rail on July 8 completed its acquisition of The Andersons’ railcar repair business. Also, global rail fastening supplier Pandrol has provided an Ultrasonic Rail Testing Kit to SBS Transit Ltd. in Singapore; and Ricardo and Danish firm PantoInspect will bring PanMon pantograph monitoring technology to railroads across North America and Latin America.

AITX Acquires The Andersons, Inc. Railcar Leasing Unit for $0.55B, Cash

The Andersons, Inc. has sold its railcar leasing business to American Industrial Transport, Inc. (AITX) for approximately $550 million in cash, and also intends to sell off its remaining railcar repair business, including 29 U.S. facilities, as part of a “strategic decision” to jettison all its railcar interests and focus on its agricultural businesses, which include commodity trading, ethanol and plant nutrient sectors.

The Andersons acquiring FreightCar America Danville plant

The Andersons Inc. on Aug. 1 signed a $2.2 million agreement to purchase FreightCar America Inc.’s Danville Railcar Facility, Danville, Ill. The company intends to turn the now-shuttered freight car manufacturing plant into a full-service freight and tank railcar repair shop.
