ASLRRA Members Honored for Safety Performance

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) presented President’s Safety Awards to members at its Central and Pacific Region Meeting, held Sept. 26-28 in Long Beach, Calif., and at its Eastern and Southern Region Meeting, held Nov. 7-9 in Lexington, Ky.

The annual awards recognize the “outstanding safety records of railroads that have achieved either a 0.0 accident frequency rate, or the best safety rate as measured by the lowest accident frequency rate per person-hour of operation below the industry average,” according to ASLRRA. The five President’s Safety Award winners in each of the four regions were selected based on the previous year’s performance (2022), according to the Federal Railroad Administration accident/incident reporting data.

Central Region Winners

• Watco Switching Services (More than 500,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (250,000-500,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Red River Valley & Western Railroad Co. (150,000 to 250,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Kyle Railroad Company (50,000 to 150,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Rail Logix Ameriport (Less than 50,000 Person Hours Worked)

Pacific Region Winners

• Montana Rail Link, Inc. (More than 500,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Pacific Harbor Line, Inc. (250,000-500,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Terminal Switching Services (TSWS) (150,000 to 250,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Clarkdale Arizona Central Railroad, LC (50,000-150,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Bighorn Divide & Wyoming Railroad, Inc. (Less than 50,000 Person Hours Worked)

Eastern Region Winners

• Consolidated Rail Corporation (More than 500,000 Person Hours Worked)
• Indiana Rail Road Company (250,000 to 500,000 Person Hours Worked)
