ASLRRA Members Honored for Safety Performance

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) presented President’s Safety Awards to members at its Central and Pacific Region Meeting, held Sept. 26-28 in Long Beach, Calif., and at its Eastern and Southern Region Meeting, held Nov. 7-9 in Lexington, Ky.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg called awarding $1.5 billion in INFRA grants “transformative investments in our nation’s roads, bridges, ports, and rail to improve the way Americans get around and help lower the costs of shipping goods.”

The U.S. Department of Transportation has selected 26 projects—nine rail/intermodal-related—to share $1.5 billion in INFRA (Infrastructure for Rebuilding America) grants.

Garrett Succeeds Reck at P&L Transportation

Tom Garrett has taken over leadership of P&L Transportation, Inc., (P&L) from Tony Reck, who on Jan. 1, 2022, stepped down as CEO of the company and its subsidiary railroads, Paducah & Louisville, Evansville Western, Appalachian & Ohio, and Midway Southern; Reck continues as P&L Board Chair.
