High Profile: MTA Metro-North SVP Ops; Nexsen Pruet Legal Counsel

New York MTA’s Metro-North Railroad has promoted Justin Vonashek to Senior Vice President-Operations, succeeding John Kesich, who has held the position since 2013 and will retire in April. Nexsen Pruet, a North Carolina-based economic development group, has hired attorney Scott Saylor.

Keolis Receives APTA Nod for MBTA Sustainability Work

Keolis Commuter Services, the MBTA’s operating partner for Commuter Rail, earned the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Gold Sustainability Award for its commitment to and organizational enhancements focused on environmentally friendly business practices. Keolis is the first private commuter rail operator in the United States to earn the APTA Gold Sustainability Award.

Drones (formally called UAS, for “Unmanned Aerial System”) are becoming an important tool in railroad engineering and maintenance. Keolis Commuter Services, which operates regional/commuter rail for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, is among the latest to adopt the technology.
