Keolis is digitizing operating documents such as rulebooks, bulletins and special instructions that more than 1,000 train conductors, locomotive engineers, track workers and other personnel are required to carry when operating on the MBTA Commuter Rail network.
Keolis Commuter Services, operator of Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) commuter rail, has selected Comply365 to digitize materials for operations personnel; and Duos Technologies has partnered with Dell to help streamline its automated railcar inspection system.
With funding from the MBTA, cloud-hosted software provider Comply365’s platform will support Keolis’ move to electronic content delivery using tablets. Keolis is digitizing operating documents such as rulebooks, bulletins and special instructions that more than 1,000 train conductors, locomotive engineers, track workers and other personnel are required to carry when operating on the Commuter Rail network. Keolis and MBTA will be able to “more easily verify that important updates to rules and operating procedures have been read and understood by the relevant front-line employees, further enhancing compliance and safety,” according to Keolis.
“We’ve introduced a number of digital innovations since 2014 in partnership with the MBTA, such as the ability to accept credit cards onboard trains and biometric timeclocks,” Keolis CEO and General Manager David Scorey said. “This platform will make critical safety and compliance information even more accessible and easier to reference for our operational personnel. Further, updates to these materials will be much easier to administer.”
Duos Technologies’ Railcar Inspection Portal, or rip® (pictured above), is powered by Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and Dell EMC PowerVault storage arrays. According to the company, rip® can inspect in eight minutes more than 120 freight railcars moving at full speed.
