Progress Rail updates Seeing Machines pact
Written by Railway Age StaffINDIANAPOLIS: Progress Rail, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., has signed an updated Master Development Agreement with Seeing Machines, a specialist in computer vision technologies. The new exclusive agreement provides the framework to ready the companies’ fatigue monitoring solution for commercial use in rail applications.
Under the original agreement, Progress Rail and Seeing Machines conducted multiple, successful field trials with rail customers, enabling both parties to witness the fatigue monitoring technology in real time, as well as to better understand the challenges rail operators face in managing fatigue and distraction.
“Our primary goal is to serve rail customers with valuable rail technologies, products and services to optimize their bottom line,” said Paul Denton, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Analytics for Progress Rail, of Albertville, Ala. “In working with Seeing Machines, we have collectively developed technology to do just that – by monitoring rail operators for alertness, global railways can maximize the efficiency of their rail fleets and help operators arrive home safely.”

Progress Rail and Seeing Machines are demonstrating the technology witha specially equipped locomotive cab simulator at Railway Interchange 2017 in Indianapolis.
