Short line holding company Patriot Rail on Sept. 5 reported appointing Josh Monroe and Shawn Mindrup as Regional Vice Presidents Business Development for the East and West, respectively.

Monroe served most recently as Director of Sales-South for Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), managing the energy, chemicals and plastics customer portfolio. Prior to Kansas City Southern’s (KCS) April merger with Canadian Pacific to form CPKC, he served KCS for more than 19 years, holding progressive leadership positions, including Market Account Development Manager, Assistant Manager, Manager and Senior Sales and Market Account Executive and Director of Sales and Marketing. Throughout Monroe’s tenure in the Class I sector, he has worked in a variety of commodities and managed short line railroad relationships. He earned a B.S. in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the University of Central Missouri.

Mindrup served previously as Director of Real Estate for CPKC, overseeing a portion of railroad’s real estate portfolio in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He spent more than a decade at KCS in a variety of roles including sales, marketing, real estate and innovation. In 2018, Mindrup became Director of Commercial Innovation where he drove a commercial focus to the KCS real estate portfolio and evaluated emerging technologies benefiting KCS. He earned a B.S. in public relations from the University of Central Missouri and a master’s degree in business administration from Baker University.

Both Monroe and Mindrup will report to Chief Commercial Officer Robert Turnauckas, who joined Jacksonville, Fla.-based Patriot Rail in 2017.

“We are thrilled to have Josh Monroe and Shawn Mindrup on the Patriot Rail Team,” Turnauckas said. “Josh and Shawn together bring extensive rail and service experience from their tenures at Kansas City Southern, and we look forward to their value-driven insights as we continue to meet our growing customer base needs.”
