R.J. Corman to Launch KXCG

With the purchase of two branch lines from Norfolk Southern (NS), R.J. Corman Railroad Company is launching the Knoxville and Cumberland Gap Railroad, LLC (KXCG), its 18th short line.

Corman Railroad Company/Memphis Line (RJCM) and Lake State Railway (LSRC) accepted Railway Age’s 2021 Short Line & Regional Railroads of the Year Awards at the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) Annual Conference & Exhibition in Phoenix, Ariz., on Nov. 18; the Belpre Industrial Parkersburg Railroad (BIPR) and Grenada Railroad (GRYR) received Short Line Honorable Mentions.

R.J. Corman Railroad Company is rebranding its transloading business as “Transload Connect,” and has signed on RSI Logistics to market the service and serve as a third-party operator at select locations.

On May 22, R. J. Corman opened up part of the 2,000-acre grounds at company headquarters in Nicholasville, Kent., for The Providence School, East Jessamine High School and West Jessamine High School to celebrate graduation with processions by car.

R.J. Corman Reaches Deal to Lease, Operate Childersburg Line

R. J. Corman Railroad Company has finalized a long-term agreement to lease and operate a short line railroad from the City of Childersburg Local Redevelopment Authority (CLRA), CSX Transportation (CSX) and Norfolk Southern Railway Company (NS). The newly formed R. J. Corman Railroad Company/Childersburg Line (RJAL) is a 13.32-mile line located in Coosa Pines, Ala. Previously, the line was jointly operated by NS and CSX.
