With the acquisition of three short lines (OHRY, LRWY and LS) and a transload servicer provider (TranZ), R.J. Corman now operates 17 short lines in 11 states and has expanded its transloading services.

R.J. Corman Railroad Co. has officially acquired Owego and Harford Railway (OHRY), Lehigh Railway (LRWY), and Luzerne and Susquehanna Railway (LS) as well as short line transload service provider TranZ.

An agreement was announced in August. R.J. Corman now operates 17 short lines in 11 states and has expanded its transloading services.

The 26.7-mile OHRY, 60-mile LRWY, and 60-mile LS as well as TranZ were founded by Steve May. They operate in New York and Pennsylvania (see map below), and move commodities such as sand, scrap, feed products, plastic, propane and wood products. The short lines handle approximately 14,000 railcars annually and interchange with Norfolk Southern as well as Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad (R&N), which was Railway Age’s 2002, 2011, 2015 and 2020 Regional Railroad of the Year.

“We are excited to reach the finish line of this deal and to welcome the accomplished team of employees to our family,” R.J. Corman Railroad Co. President Ray Goss said. “Over the past few months, we have been learning the operations of the new companies and are confident in a smooth and effective transition for our customers.”

“We are pleased with the strategic growth we have effectuated over recent years and look forward to being a long-term partner for shippers and railroads across the U.S.,” said Ed Quinn, President and CEO of R.J. Corman Railroad Group, the parent company of R.J. Corman Railroad Co. The group also acquired the Nashville & Eastern Railroad Corp. (NERR) and Nashville & Western Railroad Corp. (NWR) in late 2018.
