STB wants to listen to you

Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-Chief

The Surface Transportation Board Regulatory Reform Task Force (RRTF) will host a public “listening session” (hearing) on July 25, 2017 “to hear stakeholders’ views on streamlining the agency’s regulations.”

“The Board’s RRFT was established to comply with the spirit of Executive Order 13,777, issued Feb. 24, 2017,” said spokesman Dennis Watson. “The initial goals of the RRTF are to improve implementation of regulatory reform initiatives and policies pursuant to the EO, and to evaluate existing regulations to identify regulations for repeal, replacement or modification, consistent with applicable law. The RRFT proposed several initiatives in a May 25, 2017 memorandum to Acting Chairman Ann Begeman. The session is not limited to those initiatives, and the RRFT welcomes proposals from the public.”

The hearing will begin at 10:00 a.m. EDT in the first-floor Hearing Room of STB headquarters at 395 E Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. It will be on-the-record, and a transcript will be available to the public following the session. Those unable to attend the hearing may file written comments by July 25, 2017. Comments should reference Docket No. EP 738, and should be addressed to:
