SYSTRA has promoted Joseph Sais, P.E., to Executive Vice President, Engineering. In this capacity, Sais will oversee the firm’s U.S.-based Infrastructure, Traction Power, Systems, and Construction Management and Program Management Sectors. He will be based in New York City.

A licensed Professional Engineer, Sais has more than 40 years of senior level managerial experience in transit and railroad operations, maintenance, and engineering. Prior to joining SYSTRA, he spent 33 years at the Long Island Rail Road. Over the course of his tenure at LIRR, Sais was responsible for all aspects of the track and structures departments, including planning, design, construction, and maintenance.

As SYSTRA’s National Construction and Program Management Practice Lead, Sais provided oversight on successful projects, among them MTA Capital Construction’s East Side Access program, Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Danbury Branch Signalization, and Port Authority of New York & New Jersey’s PATH Railroad Capital Program.

“Joe is an expert at providing hands-on leadership and direction for rail systems planning, design, and construction,” commented William Crosbie, P.Eng., President and CEO of SYSTRA’s U.S. subsidiary. “He is a creative problem solver with a solid track record of major accomplishments, including those at LIRR and AREMA, and continues to be an asset to the SYSTRA management team.”
