RailComm to expand BNSF yard system

Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-Chief

Fairport, N.Y.-based RailComm says it has been selected to expand its existing yard system at BNSF’s mechanical facility in Memphis, Tenn.

railcomm_logo.jpgRailComm’s state-of-the-art Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) System will be used to remotely control derails. The DOC® System will include two workstations that will allow the user to monitor device status and review operation logs of all system activity. The workstation will display a graphical representation of the yard area, and the user will be able to view all the devices in the field.

The system will include RailComm Blue Flag Indicators (BFI) at each of the derail locations. While the track is protected, the BFIs at either end of the track will illuminate. The system will be configured so that certain devices will only be able to be controlled by authorized users.
