MBTA tabs BBR, United Rail for Green Line protection system
Written by Railway Age StaffThe Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority awarded BBR Verkehrstechnik GmbH of Braunschweig, Germany with the “Proof of Concept” phase for the RFP-24-16 Green Line Train Protection System.
The contract was announced by BBR partner United Rail Inc., of Jacksonville. No terms were disclosed.
BBR Verkehrstechnik will work in close cooperation with United Rail to immediately begin the development of the POC Test Schedule and Test Procedures. The MBTA described as “innovative” the team’s proposed solutions for train protection technology.
“We are honored to be a part of this project and look forward to a successful evaluation for this project,” said Norwin Voegeli, President and Chief Executive of United Rail.
