Two join Anacostia short lines staffs

Anacostia Rail Holdings announced two marketing and sales appointments at its Louisville & Indiana and Chicago South Shore & South Bend railroad affiliates.

Kathleen Sackett becomes director, marketing and sales for the Louisville & Indiana Railroad based in Jeffersonville, Ind. She joins LIRC from Watco’s Wisconsin & Southern Railroad, and reports to Eric Jakubowski, Anacostia’s chief commercial officer.

Matthew Coduti has joined Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad, Michigan City, Ind., as manager of marketing and sales. Formerly planner, maritime and raw material logistics at ArcelorMittal, he reports to Greg Dougherty, CSS director of sales and marketing.

“Both Katie and Matt have valuable rail logistics experience and are welcome additions to our Anacostia team,” said Jakubowski, and noted Sackett has strong Class I railroad experience with the Southern Pacific and BNSF, and worked for one of the larger short lines in the Midwest. “Matt is very familiar with steel-related commodities, including coal, which are very important to the South Shore,” he added.

Sackett has more than 16 years of rail sales and marketing experience, most recently with W&S. Beginning in 2008 as director of sales and marketing and based in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisc., she was named director of commercial in 2017. She began her railroad career in the Chicago area in 1991 as an account representative with the SP. In 1992, she moved to Houston, advancing to regional account manager and in 1993 was promoted to director of national accounts. She subsequently joined BNSF Railway serving from 1996-98 as market manager-soda ash, Fort Worth. Her background includes a six-year stint in real estate in Wisconsin beginning in 2002 both as a realtor and broker owner. She holds a B.S. degree in marketing and business law from Arizona State University.

Coduti’s experience includes five years with ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel and mining company. Beginning in 2012 as an associate analyst, he advanced to project analyst and purchasing specialist. In 2017, he was promoted to planner, marine and raw material logistics with responsibility for managing rail transportation of raw materials to multiple facilities. His experience includes planning and negotiating initiatives with rail, barge, port, truck and package services. Coduti is completing an MBA degree at the University of Chicago and holds a B.S. from Purdue University, majoring in industrial management with a minor in economics. He is fluent in Chinese and Spanish.
