BNSF Adds ‘Certified Sites’ in Montana, Texas

Two new industrial properties on the BNSF network have been certified as part of the Class I railroad’s Premier Parks, Sites and Transload program, bringing the total to 29; they are located in Montana and Texas.

The program’s objective is to “provide an inventory of rail-served sites that are available for immediate development,” allowing BNSF to address “increasing demand.” To be designated a “Certified Site,” properties are evaluated on environmental and geotechnical standards, available utilities, site availability, and existing and projected infrastructure, the railroad said.

The two newly designated sites are:
• Fort Peck Tribal Industrial Park (Poplar, Mont.). Zoned for heavy industrial and encompassing 45 acres, the site is located north of U.S. Highway 2 on the Fort Peck Reservation outside city limits, in Roosevelt County.
• Somerville Industrial (Somerville, Tex.). The site offers 103 acres without zoning requirements or restrictions. It is located east of State Highway 36 and 20 miles outside Bryan-College Station, Tex.

These locations will bring their respective state’s total count to four in Montana and three in Texas.
