TNW Corporation on July 26 celebrated the successful completion of a new interchange between Texas Gonzales Northern Railway (TXGN) and Union Pacific (UP) with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The nearly $5 million project was funded by short line and logistics operator TNW and a matching grant through the federal Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program.

According to TNW, the construction of the new railroad interchange boasts modern technology in the infrastructure using power switches, welded rail, steel ties and drainage enhancements. The improvements, TNW says, will “enhance safe operations while expanding capacity.” As rail volumes continue to grow; the new construction “allows TXGN to expedite the handling of unit trains, encourage regional economic development through competitive transportation options and work seamlessly with the latest rail industry standards,” TNW adds.

Featured speakers at the event included Robert Murchison, Chairman, Murchison Capital Partners; Paul Treangen, CEO, TNW Corporation; Tyson Moeller, General Director of Network Development, Union Pacific Railway; Paulo Cuoto, Federal Rail Administration; Judge Ed Emmett, Chair, Texas Freight Advisory Council;

Mark Longoria, District Director, U.S. Representative Michael Cloud (TX-27); and Steve Sucher, Mayor, City of Gonzales.

TNW’s CRISI application was championed by U.S. Senator John Cornyn, U.S. Rep. Michael Cloud (TX-27), U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela (TX-34), TXDOT, UP, several TNW customers, and the community of Gonzales, Texas.
