The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) on May 5 ratified a new collective bargaining agreement with the South Buffalo Railway (SBRR).

According to BLET, the new three-year agreement, which was tentatively reached last month, provides a $1,000 signing bonus and general wage increases of 5.5% in 2023, 4.5% in 2024, and 4.0% in 2025. The contract also provides members with six paid “flex days” per year to be taken for various reasons without penalty. Unused flex days will be paid out on the last payday before the Christmas holiday. Each employee will also receive one additional floating holiday per calendar year.

The BLET’s SBRR members belong to Division 16 (Independence, Ohio). The negotiating team consisted of Division 16 President and Grievance Chairman T.L. Flickinger and National Vice President Randy Fannon.

National President Eddie Hall thanked all involved for their hard work on behalf of the BLET’s SBRR membership.
