UP Chemical Shippers Reach Safety ‘Pinnacle’

Union Pacific (UP) has recognized 95 companies with its Pinnacle Award for their dedication to safely transporting chemical products by rail.

The annual award honors customers “who implement release prevention protocols [and] corrective action plans, and have zero non-accident releases of regulated hazardous materials shipments,” according to the Class I railroad.

The honorees for 2022 “share our commitment to the safe transportation of chemicals, which are used for things like cleaning drinking water and making household products,” UP Vice President-Industrial, Marketing and Sales Jacque Bendon said during the April 24 announcement. She added that the Pinnacle Award “is our way of recognizing our customers who share our commitment to protecting the environment and the communities along our rail network.”
