Union Pacific (UP) will soon serve Chick-fil-A Supply at its Prime Pointe Industrial Park in South Dallas County, Tex. Also, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) is renewing and expanding its support of the American Heart Association.

UP

The Chick-fil-A Supply Dallas Distribution Center will open later this month at UP’s Prime Pointe Industrial Park, a 3,000-acre master planned property located in South Dallas County in the cities of Hutchins, Lancaster and Wilmer. UP in a Feb. 14 LinkedIn post welcomed the company, which a few months ago celebrated the “topping out” of its 300,000-square-foot facility in Hutchins, Tex. It will serve more than 225 restaurants and their local owner-operators, as well as team members. “As a first for Chick-fil-A Supply, this facility incorporates rail-supported receiving, automated storage and retrieval, robotics, and refrigerated storage,” Chick-fil-A Supply reported via LinkedIn in January.

This is the seventh Chick-Fil-A Supply distribution center in the country and full-scale operations will begin by May, according to a Feb. 13 report by WFAA 8.

“Taking care of the communities we’re part of is as important to Chick-fil-A Supply as it is to our restaurants,” a Chick-Fil-A spokesperson told the media outlet. “In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of North Texas Food Bank, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new distribution center.”

CPKC

CPKC on Feb. 14 reported committing $1.5 million to the American Heart Association, based in Dallas, Tex., for heart research over the next three years. The railroad’s collaboration with the organization started in 2015 in a single location and has grown to a national relationship spanning six states across the CPCK network. It is part of the CPKC Has Heart community investment program, which has helped raise more than $41.5 million to help improve the heart health of adults and children across North America.

As part of the new agreement, CPKC said it will support four two-year pre-doctoral fellowships and four one-year pre-doctoral fellowships chosen by the American Heart Association and focused on cardiovascular disease research. Additionally, the railroad will sponsor annual “Heart Walks” in Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, Shreveport, Dubuque, Davenport and the Twin Cities.

“At CPKC, we recognize the important work done by the team at the American Heart Association in the many communities in which we live, work and operate, and we are thrilled to increase our support to help ensure the AHA is well-equipped to meet patients’ needs,” CPKC Chief of Staff Chad Becker said.

“We are incredibly grateful for CPKC’s remarkable commitment to the American Heart Association,” said Kevin Harker, Executive Vice President, Midwest for the American Heart Association. “Their critical support will allow our organization to advance lifesaving research and drive more equitable health for everyone, everywhere.”

In a related development, CPKC earlier this month selected Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation as its primary charity partner for the 2024 CPKC Women’s Open.
