241 CN Shippers Earn Safety Awards

CN has recognized 241 shippers with Safe Handling Awards for 2021.
Established in 1992, the awards are presented to customers “who load freight cars with dangerous goods and meet strict standards for the safe handling and shipment of regulated products,” CN reported during the 2021 awards announcement on April 5. “The winners must meet established criteria, according to the total number of shipments of dangerous goods for all facilities.”
CN also said the awards are an “integral part” of the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care® Program, an ongoing performance improvement initiative, in which the Class I railroad is a partner, both in the U.S. and Canada.
Among the recipients: Archer Daniels Midland Co., Dow Chemical Co., DuPont Specialty Products, General Liquids Canada Ltd., Koppers Inc., Lubrizol Corp., Olin Corp. Superior Gas Liquids, and Univar Solutions Canada Ltd. The complete list can be found on a special CN website.
“Working with and around rail equipment is not an easy task and requires constant attention,” CN Senior Vice President, Rail Centric Supply Chain James Cairns said. “CN is proud to recognize 241 companies for their outstanding work in safety-related tasks. Working together to ensure everyone goes home safely is paramount. Our customers contribute to the safe movement of goods by ensuring key safety elements are always in place.”
