On Sept. 1, 2016, the Canadian government awarded a lion’s share of transit development agreements in the province of Alberta to the city of Edmonton.

Furthering Edmonton’s development, United Rail, Inc. announced that BBR Rail Automation has received a formal contract from Bombardier Transportation to supply the signaling and communications for the Edmonton Valley Line (Green Line) in Edmonton, Alberta.

The new line is comprised of eight miles (13 km) of double track including 12 platforms and 26 new vehicles.

United Rail, Inc. will support the project from its Jacksonville, Fla. facilities, Canadian representation in Toronto and on site.

The project is financed through a P3  arrangement and includes 30 years of operations and maintenance.

Deliveries are to be initiated in early 2017 after First Article Inspection (FAI) has been completed.
