Georgia Ports Advances Inland Rail Hub Plan

The Georgia Ports Authority’s (GPA) Network Georgia plan to develop inland rail hubs around the state is gaining momentum, with federal environmental approval for an inland terminal near Gainesville, Ga., GPA Executive Director Griff Lynch reported May 11.

Feds OK Port of Long Beach Pier B Proposal

The U.S. Maritime Administration has issued a Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Record of Decision (ROD) approving the Port of Long Beach’s planned $1.547 billion Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility project.

USDOT Awards $241MM for Port Improvement Projects

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) will distribute more than $241 million in grants to 25 port facility improvement projects under the Maritime Administration’s Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP); six are rail-related and will receive a total of $86.22 million.
