TCU & Shop-Craft Coalition Reaches Tentative Agreement With Amtrak

The TCU & Shop-Craft Coalition, which is comprised of the SMART-Mechanical Department (MD), the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen (BRC), National Conference of Firemen & Oilers SEIU 32BJ (NCFO), International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), Transport Workers Union (TWU), American Railway Airline Supervisor Association (ARASA), International Brotherhood of Boilermakers (IBB) and the Transportation Communications Union (TCU), announced March 23 that it has reached a tentative agreement with Amtrak to “settle each organization’s respective Section 6 notices for this round of bargaining.”

BNSF, IAMAW, BRS and SMART-MD Agreed to Paid Sick Leave

BNSF on March 9 reported reaching agreements with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW); the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS); and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers-Mechanical and Engineering Department (SMART-MD) for paid sick leave.

CN: Paid Sick Leave for IAMAW, NCFO, SMART-MD, IBB

CN is the fourth Class I to offer paid sick leave to U.S. craft railroaders. On March, it reported reaching an agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW); National Conference of Fireman and Oilers (NCFO); International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Mechanical Department (SMART-MD); and International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Blacksmiths (IBB) in the U.S.

BMWED, IBB, SMART-MD Reach Tentative Agreements With NCCC

More than three weeks after Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) No. 250 issued its recommendations on the stalled contract negotiations between 12 rail labor unions and the carriers, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division (BMWED) of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters; the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers (IBB); and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers-Mechanical Department (SMART-MD) have reached tentative agreements with the National Carriers’ Conference Committee (NCCC), which represents most major railroads (and many smaller ones) in national collective bargaining.

NMB: SMART-MD, BMWED Mediation with NCCC Stands

The National Mediation Board (NMB) has refused a request from the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Mechanical Division (SMART-MD) and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division/IBT (BMWED) to be relieved from mediation with the National Carriers Conference Committee (NCCC).
