Downtown PATH service resumes

The reopening of Christopher Street restores full service to all five of PATH’s uptown Manhattan stations. Still out of service is PATH’s Hoboken Station, underneath Hoboken Terminal, a major intermodal hub serving PATH and New Jersey Transit buses, trains, and light rail transit. PATH officials repeatedly have refused to offer any specific estimate for resumption of service here, saying only that flood damage will take weeks to repair or replace. Crews continue working around the clock to replace the equipment and restore communications system in Hoboken, according to a statement issued Saturday by Gov. Chris Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The World Trade Center line will resume service between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., but additional work will require the line to be shut during weekendsPATH rail service resumed Monday morning between downtown Manhattan and New Jersey points, including Exchange Place Station in Jersey City, following weeks of repair work following damage inflicted by Hurricane Sandy.
