New appointments at MCBR
Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-ChiefBoston’s Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company (MBCR) has appointed John Hogan as the company’s Chief Transportation Officer, and William (Bill) Gilbert as Director of Quality.
John Hogan (top photo) brings nearly 30 years of operations experience in Boston’s public transportation network to his new role at MBCR, where he is responsible for management of all commuter rail lines and train movement, including oversight of schedules, onboard staff, and fare collection.
Prior to taking on the role of Chief Transportation Officer, Hogan led MBCR’s Safety and Security Department, serving as Director of Safety & Security.
Bill Gilbert will implement and develop Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans and Programs for MBCR. He previously served as a Quality Manager at SERCO, Inc. a provider of professional, technology, and management services to the federal government. Gilbert also held positions in the aerospace industry with Boeing, BAE, and Raytheon, working on quality control system development and management for programs. Prior to working in the aerospace industry, he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force and was twice awarded the Air Force Accommodation Medal for meritorious service. Gilbert earned a Master’s Degree in Management from Chapman University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Technology from Howard University.
MBCR, a joint venture of Veolia Transportation, Bombardier Transportation, and Alternate Concepts, Inc., operates the fifth largest commuter railroad network U.S. on behalf of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
