Joe Lea has been appointed President of advanced-technology company Shift5, where he will drive product, engineering, sales, marketing and operations.

Lea takes over the role from Shift5 Co-Founder Michael Weigand, who remains Chief Growth Officer. He will work at company headquarters in Rossyln, Va.

With more than 20 years of product, security and business experience, Lea served most recently at IoT (Internet of Things) security firm Armis, Inc., leading product development and helping drive the startup’s recent $2 billion valuation. He was also Head of Product for another startup, Tanium, which offers an endpoint management and security platform.

“The narrative arch of Joe’s professional life has seemed destined for Shift5,” Co-Founder and CEO Josh Lospinoso said. “I couldn’t be more honored to partner with Joe in leading Shift5 to make the world’s fleets smarter and safer.”

“Shift5’s market opportunity and mission to provide security and insight to fleet assets is incredibly compelling,” Lea said. “As we continue to scale Shift5, I look forward to working with the team to deliver on the strategic priorities and focus on aligning the team for growth and driving value for our customers, employees and other stakeholders.”
