Rocky Mountaineer on March 30, 2016 announced that it has partnered with Travel Alberta to create an unforgettable experience on board its award-winning train in the world’s first-ever virtual reality (VR) rail video.

Launched in Washington, D.C. at an event hosted by National Geographic earlier this month, this VR experience invites guests to inhale the mountain air, let nature take their breath away, and enjoy a thrilling and historic rail journey, all without leaving the comfort of their own home.

Filmed aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, this awe-inspiring VR footage offers a first-hand look at the vast and untouched wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. From the iconic wave and bagpipe send-off to beautiful landscape views in the GoldLeaf Service bi-level dome coaches, it showcases the unparalleled scenic aspect guests will experience on board any of Rocky Mountaineer’s life changing routes.

“We are excited to be launching the first of its kind virtual reality rail video in partnership with Travel Alberta,” says Shannon Kidd, Senior Communications Manager for Rocky Mountaineer. “This footage truly captures the essence of the Rocky Mountaineer experience, giving viewers a taste of what guests aboard our iconic trains can expect to enjoy.”

Rocky Mountaineer is encouraging aspiring travellers to watch the video and share their thoughts on social media using #360RockyMountaineer. To view the full VR video, please visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLqQKOfQA2E.
