On June 1, 2024, Transtar LLC wholly-owned subsidiary East Ohio Valley Railway LLC (EOVR) will add 18 miles to its rail network through a long-term lease of rail lines in the Powhatan Point, Ohio area, along the Ohio River.

The expanded operations will extend EOVR’s existing 12.2-mile main line by 16.5 miles to Bellaire, Ohio, with operating rights over Norfolk Southern to Mingo Junction, Ohio for interchange. EOVR will also begin operating over 1.78 miles of NS’s Captina Secondary, running west from Powhatan Point.

“EOVR’s expanded operations will support and strengthen manufacturing and industrial development in the region, improve transit times and enhance rail connectivity to the national rail network,” said Jonathan Carnes, President and CEO of Transtar, LLC. “We greatly appreciate our partners at Norfolk Southern for supporting our high-touch first-mile-last-mile service and look forward to expanding our rail network in the region.”
