Written by Douglas John Bowen

Kennett Square, Pa.-based Regional Rail, LLC said Friday it has acquired a majority ownership interest in Diamondback Signal, LLC. The latter specializes in the design, construction, and maintenance of signal installations for railroad/highway crossings, and was formed in January of this year.

Since its opening, Diamondback has been able to contract with 21 railroads and private industries throughout the U.S. to provide normalized maintenance and monthly inspections for their signalized crossings, and has also aggressively pursued and secured a number of crossing signal construction and/or rehabilitation projects, Regional Rail said.

Diamondback Signal has its headquarters and wire shop in Sykesville, Md.

Said Regional Rail, LLC President Bob Parker, “This acquisition illustrates Regional Rail, LLC’s continuing interest to invest in rail related entities and operations in addition to traditional railroad operations.”

Regional Rail LLC is the parent company of several short lines operating in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York, including East Penn Railroad LLC, Middletown & New Jersey Railroad, LLC, Tyburn Railroad, LLC, and Conshohocken Recycling & Rail Transfer LLC.
