RailComm aids NECR bridge operation
Written by Douglas John BowenFairport, N.Y.-based RailComm said Wednesday it has provided remote control for a New England Central Railroad bridge.
RailComm’s Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) System is used to dispatch the railroad and has been modified to include control of the bridge, the company said.
Additionally, RailComm has constructed a secondary communications link that was outfitted with a cellular communication link to the office. This cellular link provides backup to the primary link.
St. Albans, Vt.-based New England Central Railroad is a subsidiary of Jacksonville, Fla.-based RailAmerica. NECR operates over 394 miles from the Vermont-Quebec border through Massachusetts and south to New London, Conn.
