Railway Supply Institute (RSI) President Patty Long joins the OneRail Coalition Board of Directors. Also, WAGO names Paul Johnson as Industry Manager for Railroads and Transportation.

OneRail Coalition

The OneRail Coalition on March 20 announced that RSI President Patty Long has joined its Board of Directors.

“The Railway Supply Institute has long been a valuable member of the OneRail Coalition, and Patty is a terrific addition to our knowledgeable and engaged board,” said OneRail Board Chair and American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) President Chuck Baker. “Patty is a well-respected supply industry leader with over 30 years of experience in government relations, public affairs and communications.  We welcome her expertise and look forward to her contributions.”

“Patty’s strengths as the leader of RSI, whose members touch nearly every aspect of the rail supply chain, will help advance OneRail’s mission of raising awareness for the many economic, environmental, and safety benefits freight and passenger rail provide,” said OneRail Coalition Director Devon Barnhart. “She will continue to be a valued voice in championing policies that support the rail industry and the good paying jobs it provides.”

Prior to joining RSI in 2021, Long spent nine years with the Plastics Industry Association where she served as Chief Operating Officer and interim CEO. In addition, she spent two years as an executive staff member of the National Asphalt Pavement Association and almost 20 years with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).

Long’s background includes serving as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies, where she taught ethics for more than a decade and as a member of the board of trustees of the Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Md. A native of the Washington, D.C. area, she is married and the mother of four daughters.

“In representing a broad range of rail industry segments, the OneRail Coalition has a solid reputation as a credible resource for rail policy with decision-makers in Washington,” said Long. “I’m excited to help move the organization forward.”

WAGO

WAGO recently named Paul Johnson as its new Industry Manager for Railroads and Transportation.

After serving time in the military, Johnson spent 23 years with Norfolk Southern (NS) where he eventually became Controls System Engineer, overseeing the installation and upgrades to the yard, as well as new Process Control Systems.

Johnson comes to WAGO having spent the past three years as VP of Operations for Trainyard Tech, a WAGO partner for many years. He is relying on his knowledge of the rail and transportation industry to help move WAGO forward in the industry, according to the company.

“I have had the unique opportunity to see how this industry solves problems and overcomes challenges and I am excited to promote a product I have enjoyed using since 2005,” Johnson.
