The National Mediation Board appoints Deirdre Hamilton as Chair; AECOM names Eduards Miska as Director of Engineering in British Columbia; and CSX Manager of Train Operations Donnie Moore recognized by Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve.

The National Mediation Board (NMB) has named Deirdre Hamilton Chair of the National Mediation Board. Gerald W. Fauth III and Linda A. Puchala remain as Members. The U.S. Senate confirmed Hamilton as an NMB Member on Dec. 7, 2021.

Prior to becoming a Member, Hamilton worked as a staff attorney at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), working exclusively with the IBT’s Airline Division. At the IBT, she represented most of the crafts or classes within the airline industry, including pilots, flight attendants, technicians and aircraft cleaners at commercial and cargo air carriers. Before that, she was a staff attorney at the Association of Flight Attendants. “In her career, she has handled a wide range of legal matters including NMB elections and mediation, collective bargaining support, contract enforcement and litigation of Railway Labor Act issues,” NMB said.

Hamilton, who began her career as a legal fellow in the General Counsel’s office at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, “has been an active member of the Railway Labor Act legal community,” NMB noted. She has served as a panelist at meetings of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Committee and the Railway and Airline Labor Law Committee. She has also served as a Senior Editor for the ABA Railway Labor Act Treatise.

Hamilton is a graduate of Oberlin College and the University of Michigan Law School.

Eduards Miska

AECOM has appointed Eduards Miska as Director of Engineering in British Columbia. Based in the Victoria office, he will work with AECOM’s local and national transportation clients “to apply rigorous technical expertise to assess and solve their most pressing infrastructure [problems],” the company said.

Miska brings 30 years of public sector experience with the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) to the role. There he held progressive positions culminating in his appointment as Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, where he provided strategic leadership to the Highway Services Department and served as an executive member or chair on several of the Ministry’s boards. From 2015 to early 2021, Miska served as the MoTI Executive Director of the Engineering Services Branch, where he was responsible for delivery of all engineering services across the province and led a team of more 200 technical staff.

Miska has been an active member of industry organizations throughout his career, holding leadership and support roles with the Transportation Association of Canada, Intelligent Transportation Systems Canada and the Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Donnie Moore

Donnie Moore, CSX Manager of Train Operations at Radnor Yard, has been honored with the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) “for his unwavering commitment to citizen warriors at CSX,” the railroad noted. Moore was nominated by CSX Conductor and Major in the Air National Guard John Love for his support throughout John’s 12 years of military deployments. “Congratulations, Donnie, and thank you for exemplifying the spirit of ONE CSX.”
