Jannet Walker Ford, Vice President and North America Director of Policy and Strategic Programs at Parsons, has been elected to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Board of Directors.

Walker Ford’s appointment took place at APTA’s 2016 Annual Meeting in Los Angeles. She was also appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Public Transportation Foundation, APTA’s charitable affiliate.

Walker Ford has more than 20 years of transportation experience, including program management and management consulting in the public and private sectors. Her background includes aviation as well as rail and transit systems. She is described as “having expertise in developing and implementing business, technology, and financial solutions and strategies for organizational change, stakeholder engagement, and communications, as well as government relations and business development.”

Walker Ford has served as Deputy Program Director for the Philadelphia International Airport Capacity Enhancement Program and as the Deputy CEO/Deputy General Manager for MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority), during which time she oversaw the design and installation of the Breeze Program, a $200 million smartcard-based regional fare collection system, one of the first in North America.

“Parsons is proud of all of Jannet’s accomplishments, both for the company and for organizations supporting the industry,” said Parsons Group President Michael Johnson. “Janet’s depth of experience delivering transportation infrastructure will benefit both the industry and the traveling public.”
