Northern Lines Railway appoints Chalich as GM
Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-ChiefSt. Cloud, Minn.-based Northern Lines Railway (NLR) announced Tuesday it has appointed Justin J. Chalich to the newly created position of general manager of the 23-mile short line railroad. Chalich began his duties in his new position on Sept. 11.
Chalich has served as manager of maintenance and operations since June 2006. He began in train service with NLR at the short line’s start-up in 2005. Northern Lines Railway began operations on April 23, 2005, over track formerly operated by the BNSF Railway.
Prior to joining NLR, Chalich held a variety of transportation and mechanical posts at Northern Plains Railroad, Fordville, N.D.
Chalich reports to NLR President Daniel C. Rickel, who also was recently named vice president of the Louisville & Indiana Railroad, headquartered in Jeffersonville, Ind. Both NLR and the Louisville & Indiana Railroad are affiliates of Chicago-based Anacostia & Pacific Co., Inc.
