Hamidreza Rezaei has joined engineering and construction management firm STV as Vice President, National Technical Director of Underground Structures.

Rezaei is a member of STV’s growing national tunneling and geotechnical group, and is providing direction, oversight and management of structural work for underground and tunnel projects from coast to coast.

Rezaei served previously at WSP, where he played an instrumental role on such major projects as MTA Long Island Rail Road’s East Side Access; MTA New York City Transit’s South Ferry Station and Tunnel Rehabilitation; Phases 1 and 2 of MTA Capital Construction Contract’s Second Avenue Subway; and Virginia Department of Transportation’s Second Midtown Tunnel, Norfolk and Portsmouth, Va.

His expertise spans all phases of project development, from feasibility studies through final design and into construction. Rezaei has diverse experience in the design of structures in soft ground and rock, including bored tunnels, caverns, cut-and-cover tunnels, shafts, retaining walls and temporary support of excavation. He also has hands-on experience in soil structure interaction numerical modeling, linear and non-linear dynamic analysis and finite element analyses.

“Hamid is an expert in structural and tunnel engineering,” said Frank Pepe, Jr., STV Senior Vice President and National Director for Tunneling and Geotechnical Engineering. “He has managed many impactful, complex projects and is part of a strong, growing team of underground authorities bringing valuable knowledge and skill to our clients.”
