Gouveia Leads HDR Northeast Transit

HDR has promoted New England Transportation Manager Tony Gouveia, P.E., to a dual role as Northeast Transit Leader, adding to his current position.
Gouveia will work with teams and clients to support the development and delivery of multidisciplinary transit programs throughout the Northeast. He will advise on the technical, regulatory and financial aspects as well as the community impacts. Gouveia has nearly three decades of transit industry experience, including the past seven years at HDR. An AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association) and ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) member, he is “an industry expert in railroad corridor planning, engineering and construction management and is also experienced in station and track infrastructure design,” HDR said.
While serving MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) as Chief Engineer, Gouveia “developed an in-depth understanding of project needs in shared commuter, intercity and freight rail corridors, HDR noted. Gouveia is currently principal-in-charge for MBTA’s Red Line/Orange Line PM/CM project in Boston as well as the Worcester Line Track and Station Accessibility Improvements. He also serves as the deputy program manager for the South Coast Commuter Rail Program.
