L.B. Foster Co. announced Wednesday it is "changing the names of several of its subsidiary companies acquired from Portec Rail Products, Inc. to L.B. Foster Rail Technologies to more accurately brand the innovative unit and better represent its rail product development capabilities."

Pittsburgh-based L.B. Foster acquired the technology-based rail products manufacturer and most of its subsidiaries in December 2010.

The naming structure brings added recognition to the new Rail Technologies business as it becomes part of the L.B. Foster brand, the company says, adding it also will aid expansion of the brand into Europe, Asia, and South America.

“The Rail Technologies business has been a successful addition to the L.B. Foster family. The rebranding links our innovative product engineering with L.B. Foster’s renowned quality and service,” said John Kasel, senior vice president, L.B. Foster Rail Business. The new Rail Technologies business manufactures friction management, track components and measurement system products for worldwide wheel/rail interface markets.

The company said it has already completed several name changes. Portec Rail Products, Inc. was changed to L.B. Foster Rail Technologies, Inc.; Kelsan Technologies Corp. was changed to L.B. Foster Rail Technologies Corp.; and Portec Rail Products (UK) Ltd. was changed to L.B. Foster Rail Technologies (UK) Ltd.
