The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) will present Jeff Brashares, Director of Domestic Intermodal Sourcing and Operations for CMA CGM, with its 2021 Silver Kingpin Award at the Intermodal EXPO, to be held Sept. 12-14 in Long Beach, Calif.

The Silver Kingpin Award honors “an individual’s long-term contributions to intermodalism,” according IANA. It was established in 1977 by the National Piggyback Association.

Brashares’ career spans more than four decades, covering every operating division of the intermodal industry. He got his start at the Erie Lackawanna Railway, and moved through IMC and brokerage businesses to his current post.

Early in his career, Brashares “gained recognition for converting truck freight to refrigerated boxcars,” IANA said. “Later, he joined two partners in purchasing Rail Van, a small 3PL which they grew into a $550 million business.” In 2000, Rail Van was bought by Pacer International, where Brashares became a senior executive. He then took on a Senior Vice President role at TTS, a brokerage business acquired by Sunteck in 2016, prior to joining CMA CGM.

“Jeff’s commitment to IANA and the intermodal industry has been unwavering,” IANA President and CEO Joni Casey said. “He served four terms on IANA’s Board of Directors, chaired five committees, and spearheaded countless education sessions at Intermodal EXPO. We continue to be grateful for his contributions.”
