Former Class I railroad executive Kayden Howard has taken on a newly created role at OmniTRAX: Senior Vice President of Health, Safety and Environmental Programs.

Howard was most recently Vice President-Health, Safety and Environment for Kansas City Southern (KCS), which in April merged with Canadian Pacific to form Canadian Pacific Kansas City. She was previously KCS’s Associate General Counsel.

“During her time as a Vice President at Kansas City Southern, Howard achieved a transformational safety record, earning industry-best safety ratings,” reported Denver-Colo.-based OmniTRAX, a supply-chain and logistics solutions provider and the transportation affiliate of The Broe Group. “Her implementation of comprehensive prevention, preparedness, and response strategies directly reduced operational risks and optimized employee and public safety.”

Howard is a University of Missouri–Columbia alumna and holds a law degree from the University of Kansas. Her litigation career also includes serving as legal counsel to the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor, and private practice. She is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas.

“The safety and well-being of the OmniTRAX team, our partners and the communities we serve is our highest priority,” OmniTRAX President and COO Sergio Sabatini said. “Kayden Howard is a widely respected industry leader, and her expertise will play a key role in shaping the end-to-end health, safety and environmental programs that will scale with our growth.”

In related developments, Brownsville & Rio Grande International Railway, LLC (BRG), a managed affiliate of OmniTRAX, recently presented a $9,000 donation to the Point Isabel Independent School District in honor of nine shippers demonstrating a commitment to safety. Also, Shariff Gonnella on Aug. 1 became President of BRG, succeeding Norma Torres, a 2021 Railway Age Women in Rail honoree who retired.
