Maureen Werner is the new Vice President of Engineering at MxV Rail. She will be responsible for leading more than 100 engineers “in the pursuit of delivering high-quality research, testing and ancillary services,” the company reported Sept. 7.

Werner recently retired from TTX Company, where she served as Assistant Vice President of Engineering and Research, working to improve railcar fleet reliability through advanced component design and implementing condition-based maintenance. For the past 15 years, she has served as Chair of the Association of American Railroads’ Equipment Engineering Committee.

Werner earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University. She also completed The Chicago Management Institute Executive Education Program at University of Chicago Booth. Werner is an accredited Professional Engineer in Illinois.

“As the world’s premier rail advisory, our success is grounded in our people,” said MxV Rail President and CEO Kari Gonzales, who will be a speaker at the Railway Age / RT&S Women in Rail 2023 conference, to be held Nov. 2 at the Union League Club of Chicago. “Maureen’s well-established reputation and leadership have raised the bar for engineering in the rail industry. She will bring a new perspective to our operations and will be an outstanding addition to our already excellent Engineering team.”
