On May 26, CSX was inducted into the CMA Hall of Fame at the Climate Leadership Conference, held in Washington, D.C. It was the only railroad honored.

CSX is one of 29 companies to earn a place in the Climate Leadership Awards (CLA) Hall of Fame for its commitment to increasing sustainability and lowering carbon emissions.

The inaugural Hall of Fame inductees were honored at the 2022 Climate Leadership Conference, held May 24-26 in Washington, D.C. To be included, they had to win at least two Climate Leadership Awards across multiple categories over the past 10 years.

The CLA is a national awards program that “recognizes and incentivizes exemplary corporate, organizational and individual leadership in response to climate change,” according to the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) and The Climate Registry, the conference organizers. “The winners are leading the way in managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in their operations and supply chains.”

CSX is the only railroad in the Hall of Fame. It received the Goal Achievement Award in 2013 for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management, and a Goal Setting Certificate for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management in 2021.

Also included are: California Department of Water Resources, Bank of America, IBM, Trane Technologies, The Goldman Sachs Group, Microsoft Corporation, Sprint, Campbell Soup Company, Cisco Systems Inc., Comerica Inc., Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Intel Corporation, Kohl’s Department Stores, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Mastercard, San Diego Gas & Electric, The Clorox Company, Tiffany & Co., UPS, Xcel Energy, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Mars Inc., Pitney Bowes, The Hartford, SC Johnson, Ford Motor Company, Gap Inc., and NRG Energy.

“The definition of ‘leadership’ is evolving over time thanks to the ambitious actions and voluntary commitments of companies like these repeat CLA winners,” C2ES President Nathaniel Keohane said. “In the past decade, these companies, organizations and individuals have helped raise the bar time and again—betting on themselves to succeed. Congratulations to these leaders.”
