CN Thanks Veterans in Canada, U.S.

Written by Marybeth Luczak, Executive Editor

To pay tribute to veterans in Canada and the U.S. on Remembrance Day and Veterans Day, Nov. 11, CN has planned a variety of initiatives.

Among them:

• In Canada at 11 a.m. local time and in the U.S. at 2:11 p.m. EST, there will be two minutes of silence in offices, yards and shops; and train crews on the main line will ring their locomotive bells.

• In Canada, CN is supporting the Legion National Foundation’s Digital Poppy Campaign through the CN Employees’ and Pensioners’ Community Fund. All money raised will support Canadian veterans and their families.

• In the U.S., CN is making a $10,000 donation to the American Legion, a nonprofit organization that helps veterans and their families apply for benefits; assists wounded and disabled veterans; and grants scholarships to children whose parents have passed away or sustained serious injuries.

• CN’s two new tribute locomotives “pay homage to veterans and active military men and women across North America. Their custom design represents the proud footprint we have established across our network and our deep recognition for the veterans who live and work in the communities our trains pass through every day,” according to the railroad. They will be rolled out in the coming days.
