BNSF President and Chief Operating Officer Carl Ice will deliver the keynote speech Sept. 24 to the Opening General Session of the Railway Supply Institute's RSI/CMA 2012 Conference and Trade Show in Chicago.

RSI notes Ice was appointed to his current position on Nov. 1, 2010. He “oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, helping to drive BNSF’s strategies for safety, service, growth, efficiency and technology. He is responsible for Operations, Marketing and Technology Services,” RSI says.

Ice has served as COO since December 2000, when he also was executive vice president. He is credited for bolstering BNSF’s reputation for safety, on-time performance, and productivity. Prior to this, Ice served as senior vice president, Operations. He began his railroad career with Santa Fe Railway in the Industrial Engineering Department.
