TekTracking: Two More Class I CTAs

TekTracking LLC has expanded deployment of its Commander Terminal Automation (CTA) system on a Class I customer to two additional classification yards in Wisconsin. TekTracking received the orders and delivered materials in this year’s first quarter, with planned cutovers in the spring.
“These additional installations of Commander will continue to help this Class I leverage a modern control and communications platform specifically designed to greatly reduce support costs associated with legacy radio control technology suppliers,” said Gregory Fogarty, TekTracking CEO. “We are excited to continue to support the railroad’s desire to upgrade its yard control architecture. We look forward to a continued roll-out of our next generation hardware and software solutions to maximize switching capabilities and increase throughput, while keeping maintenance and repair costs minimal for the railroad.”
TekTracking says it developed CTA “to leverage modern, off-the-shelf communication and control products to provide a 100% ethernet-based wireless control system. CTA replaces only the legacy control and communication components found in all yard automation systems, while retaining the existing power switch machines and the existing OS circuit. This makes yard automation modernization relatively inexpensive. The CTA system is simple to set up and includes sophisticated software to assist in network maintenance and troubleshooting. Replacement components are open source and readily available. This allows our system to be easily supported by trained railroad personnel, eliminating the need for constant reliance on the system provider.
