Railhead Corp. said it has been selected by SunRail to provide Locomotive Digital Video Recorder (LDVR) systems for the Orlando, Fla., metropolitan area regional rail service, slated to begin service later this year.

Railhead said the LDVRs, cameras, and microphones will be factory installed on the Bombardier’s BiLevel rail cars and on locomotives from Wabtec Corp.’s MotivePower subsidiary, both ordered by SunRail.

Alsip, Ill.-based Railhead Corp. provides digital video equipment, including customized mobile and stationary video surveillance for freight railroads, regional passenger rail operations, and other transportation fleets.

Phase 1 of SunRail’s 61-mile operation is expected to become operational this year. Phase 2 extensions north and south are slated to commence revenue service in 2016.
