Zurich, Switzerland-based telematics firm Nexxiot has appointed Roger Gloor as the new Technical Department Head.

Gloor served previously at intermodal logistics service provider Bertschi AG. As Deputy Head of Bertschi AG’s Technical Department, he was in charge of 42,000 tank and dry-bulk containers. Among other responsibilities, he designed and developed three types of ISO tank containers and supervised the sourcing and production of 22,000 units in cooperation with Welfit Oddy, CIMC, JJAP, SPIC, and NTtank, Nexxiot reported. Gloor is also President of the Association of Swiss Tank Cleaning Systems (VSTRA).

In his new position, Nexxiot said Gloor will expand the company’s “role in the safe and sustainable transportation of liquid chemicals and dangerous goods by rail and sea.”

Nexxiot is the supplier to TTX in a program to equip certain railcars in its fleet with telematics.

In related developments, Nexxiot on April 4 announced the release of a new multipurpose Vector sensor to monitor handbrakes, hatches and doors on freight railcars, “complementing a growing portfolio of Nexxiot Asset Intelligence technology, which is used by leading transportation companies to remove uncertainty and risks associated with safety and cargo quality.”

Also, Nexsyst 360 in March partnered with Nexxiot to digitalize its entire fleet of grain shipping containers with zero-maintenance IoT (Internet of Things) connectivity hardware, “enabling real-time transport intelligence across the entire journey with user services made available through the company’s Traceable AG, LLC software solution.”
