RailComm adds CROR to DOC System Software

Fairport, N.Y.-based RailComm says its state-of-the-art Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) train control system, used by RailAmerica's American Rail Dispatch Center, will soon have the ability to dispatch based on Canadian Railroad Operating Rules (CROR).

The new functionality is being designed in conjunction with RailAmerica personnel, RailComm says.

CROR dispatching will be accessed through RailComm’s SaaS delivery method. SaaS provides a “pay-as-you-go” model, thus eliminating capital equipment procurement constraints. Through this delivery, railroads can be remotely dispatched by Rail America wherever an Internet connection is available.

RailComm adds that it now is possible to relocate dispatchers to alternative locations, if the need arises. RailAmerica management members can log in from their offices, homes, or even from hotels to directly view dispatching activities and obtain management reports.RailComm logo 2012

Since the DOC® control application resides on servers within the RailComm-managed data center in Rochester, N.Y., the requirement for local IT support at each railroad is greatly reduced, the company says.
