Take a trip to MARS this January

Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-Chief

“Rail Shipping 2015: Meeting the Challenges of High Demand” will be the theme for the 244th meeting of the Midwest Association of Rail Shippers (MARS), Jan. 14–15, 2015 in Oak Brook, Ill.

Among the key presenters are CSX Transportation Chief Commercial Officer Clarence Gooden; Cliffs Natural Resources Chairman, President, and CEO Lourenco Goncalves; and Surface Transportation Board Chairman Daniel Elliott III. CN President and CEO Claude Mongeau is the keynote speaker at the Jan. 14 conference luncheon, co-hosted by MARS and the Traffic Club of Chicago. Analyst Tony Hatch will present Wall Street’s perspective on the rail industry, while Chambers, Conlon & Hartwell partner Adam Nordstrom will preview legislative issues and FTR Associates President Eric Starks will discuss the economy.

During the meeting, MARS will also host four seminars—“Railroad 101,” “Railroad 201,” “Railroad 301,” and “Intermodal 101”—along with other special-interest breakout sessions. There is no charge for these seminars, and it is not necessary to attend the conference to attend a seminar.
