The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has awarded a $16.2 million contract to J.F. White Contracting Company for repairs on the railroad bride between Beverly and Salem, Mass, the agency announced Feb. 11, 2016.

According to The Salem News, the project, which was originally scheduled to be completed in 2008 but was later dropped, will consist of the replacement of the bridge’s swing span, renovation of the control house and a new electrical room and generator.

A 21-day bridge closure, which will result in train stoppage, is scheduled for April 2017 when the swing span is replaced. Buses will accommodate passengers between the Salem and Beverly stations during that time.
